Watermedia Approaches for Book Structures

This workshop will focus on 2 extraordinary multiple signature book structures. Work with the principles of watermedia surface design in the form of watercolor monotypes, dropped-in watercolor techniques, line symbolism, and collage imagery for development of context for the book structures.

Included in class fee and provided:

Waxed linen thread, paper clay for book covers, stamp carving material, iridescent acrylics,
vellum papers, map papers, tyvec reinforcement papers, open acrylics,

Supply list
Water container
1or more round watercolor brushes: #12, #10 or #8
1⁄2” or 1” flat acrylic brush
1 round acrylic brush
Transparent Watercolors: pan or personal palette - tube watercolors set in a palette
Try and avoid round cheap palettes. They tend to be opaque. Good brands for watercolor
include Daniel Smith, Winsor Newton,
Small set of acrylics for book covers (this can be shared) Ocean colors- blues, turquoise,
warm yellows, etc..

Papers:
At least 14 (light valued ocean colors, teals, blues, warm yellows, or any other like minded
colors) papers. 18” wide (with the grain) x 4.5” high. Around 60 to 98 weight
This set works well Canson Mi Teintes pastel color set 19” x 25” or canson colorline art
paper. Both from Blick art materials, You can also paint your own papers with watercolor.

Color pencils- at least 18. Prismacolor Premier Pencils- Most Art stores carry this brand.
Faber- Castell Polychromes, Caran d’Ache Luminance are all excellent brands
